The 2021 World Ice Hockey Championships was held in Riga, Latvia’s capital, from 21 May to 6 June, and required pitch adaptations in its venues, leading, for example, to the conversion of the multi-purpose sports hall at the Olympic Sports Centre into an ice hockey arena.
The washed, dried dolomite sand made by Saulkalne S is intended for a broad range of applications and, thanks to its material properties, can be used to build sports pitches with stricter requirements for durability. One of the projects where it has been used is the hockey pitch at the Olympic Sports Centre, set up for the World Ice Hockey Championships.
